The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of experience in Registration and/or Shipping in a gallery, museum or fine art transport environment.

Casey Kaplan, New York is seeking applicants who can work collaboratively as a member of a team, facilitating the comprehensive and smooth handling of all shipping-related responsibilities as it pertains to the Gallery’s inventory, internal and external exhibitions and art fairs.

Responsibilities

Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on attention to detail, organizational systems and the ability to discern priorities working in tandem with the gallery staff. General knowledge of standard packing procedures is required. Applicant must maintain discretion, sound judgment and show a proven ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. This role involves a high degree of autonomy.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following. Roles will be delineated based on experience and in collaboration with the gallery’s Registrar:

The organization and maintenance of an extensive inventory of artworks, including overseeing four separate storage facilities, the gallery’s inventory database, and coordinating incoming and outgoing shipments.

Liaising with the Gallery’s fine art insurance agent to facilitate and maintain the gallery’s insurance policy.

The coordination of logistics and schedules for installations and exhibitions in public-facing galleries and private viewing rooms.

Liaising with Head Preparator on condition reports for incoming and outgoing artwork, as well as advise on installation instructions as needed.

The coordination of loan and consignment agreements.

Providing support in the production of artworks as needed.

The management and facilitation of framing needs.

The management of art fairs, including the maintenance and communication of schedules and deadlines, as well as the organization of shipments domestic and international. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of customs and tax requirements for overseas shipments.

Maintain Certificates of Authenticity and Certificates of Insurance.

Comprehensive knowledge and practice of museum standards for packing, crating, handling, installation, and housing artworks for long- and short-term care.

Requirements

Qualifications:

4 years in a gallery, museum or fine art transport environment.

Experience with programs such as Artlogic is preferred.
