A highly active studio in East Los Angeles seeks a hard-working, organized, and professional individual for the role of Part-Time Studio Manager. This is a part-time, hourly position that requires a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the studio and artist.
Part-Time Studio Manager
Artist Studio
Supervise, schedule, and manage artist and studio assistant(s), as well as contractors as needed
Daily management of studio email and calendar
Coordinate and oversee facility maintenance
Update artist’s website and various social media sites as needed
Liaise with galleries, press, collectors, curators, and accountants on behalf of artist
Schedule collections, shipments, and deliveries
Maintain studio archive, including updating internal inventory records, organizing photo documentation, and cataloguing press records
Monitor studio inventory, including organizing, replenishing, and cleaning supplies
Run errands on behalf of artist and perform additional tasks as needed
The ideal candidate should be dedicated, calm, patient, and adaptable. They should have a solid understanding of contemporary art and culture, as well as experience in the daily, weekly, and monthly organization of an active artist’s studio. They should have a high attention to detail and prior experience managing staff. In addition—
Three (3) to five (5) years of arts administration experience as a Studio Manager, Assistant Curator, Assistant Registrar or equivalent role
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Workspace
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of and experience with general construction practices
Familiarity with materials, paint, and finishes
Ability to carefully inspect, handle, install, pack, and transport works of art
Ability to execute basic woodworking and similar projects
Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
Valid CA driver’s license
The pay scale for this position is $28/hour (commensurate with experience)
Part-time, three (3) days per week
