Hours: Thursday – Saturday, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Additional hours for working/attending ad-hoc events and client meetings)

Payment: Hourly + Sales Commission

Wage commensurate with experience

Abigail Ogilvy Gallery was founded in Boston in 2015 and moved to Los Angeles in 2023. Now in our 10th year in business, we are looking to hire a new team member to join our fast-paced work environment that requires a diverse skillset. The candidate must be adaptable, personable, and have a strong work ethic – with an eagerness to grow our audience in the Los Angeles market and beyond.

Must be experienced in contemporary art, visual arts, and/or arts administration, with knowledge of basic systems: Gmail, Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft Word, Mac OS; experience with Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom and Artlogic preferred. The ideal candidate needs to be highly organized and able to perform a multitude of tasks in an environment that requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, anticipatory insight, and adaptability.

Responsibilities

Range of tasks includes (but is not exclusive to):

  • Greet gallery visitors and answer questions from the public

  • Meet with clients and execute sales; maintain client relationships

  • Oversee artist relationships, visit artist studios

  • Client presentations and ability to communicate professionally with potential collectors and art consultants

  • Prepare and execute checklists for exhibitions, coordinate exhibition installation and de-installation

  • Handle artworks on site, receive and ship artwork

  • Maintain and update website and artwork database as necessary

  • Assistance with off-site exhibitions through events and art fairs

  • Update the gallery’s mailing list, handle press releases and exhibition announcement mailings

  • Oversee marketing initiatives, inclusive of social media

  • Be available and interested in assisting with ad-hoc projects as they arise

  • Attend offsite events through local memberships: Hammer Museum, MoCa, ArtTable, and Gallery Platform LA

  • Management of interns

Requirements
