Hoffman Donahue is seeking a highly organized, personable, and intellectually curious Gallery Assistant to join our team in Los Angeles.

Working closely with the Gallery Directors, this role serves as a primary point of contact for the gallery. The position supports the day-to-day operations while also contributing to exhibitions, communications, research, and sales initiatives across our Los Angeles and New York spaces.

The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about contemporary art, possesses exceptional attention to detail, and is equally comfortable engaging with visitors, managing administrative projects, and supporting artists and collectors. Responsibilities

Manage the daily operations of the Los Angeles galleries, including opening and closing, welcoming visitors, and maintaining a strong knowledge of the gallery’s artists and exhibitions.

Support exhibitions, openings, dinners, art fairs, and other special projects.

Maintain artist materials, archives, and the gallery website.

Coordinate email marketing, social media, press outreach, and other communications initiatives.

Research and archive press coverage related to represented artists.

Prepare sales materials, viewing rooms, artist packets, and presentations.

Maintain client database and supporting documents.

Represent the gallery at openings, dinners, art fairs, and other industry events

Requirements

Qualifications:

BA and/or MA in Art History or a related field.

Minimum two years of experience in the art world.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Professional judgment, discretion, and a collaborative spirit.

Enthusiasm for contemporary art and a desire to contribute to the growth of the gallery.

Technical Skills:

Adobe Creative Suite, with particularly fluency in InDesign and Photoshop

Microsoft Office Suite

Arternal or a comparable art database

Additional Requirements:

Driver’s license and access to a car.

Schedule:

Tuesday–Saturday, 11:00 AM–6:00 PM.

Candidates should be available for gallery openings, dinners, art fairs, and other events as needed. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are expected.

Compensation:

Salary: $45,000-$52,000 along with health insurance, paid vacation and holidays.
