Vielmetter Los Angeles is a contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles exhibiting local and internationally recognized artists since 2000. Since moving to its current home at 1700 S. Santa Fe Ave. in 2019, the gallery has grown to incorporate multiple dynamic spaces with a rigorous, year-round exhibition and art fair schedule.

Art handlers are responsible for the safe moving, packing and installation of artwork at the gallery, under the guidance of the lead preparators, registrars and the Gallery Manager. VLA prioritizes teamwork, inclusivity, safety and offers competitive pay.

Responsibilities

Candidates would ideally fulfill the following criteria:

Knowledge of various standard art packing styles and materials.

Comfortable installing paintings and other wall works.

Knowledge of safe tool usage, particularly drills and furniture dollies.

Comfortable patching walls and doing touch up in-between exhibitions.

Able to perform physical tasks necessary to move and install artworks in a large, multi-room space, including lifting 50 lbs., working on tall ladders and kneeling/walking/standing for long periods of time.

Requirements

All applicants should be team players who value a safe, friendly work environment.

At least 1 year of experience working in art galleries, museums or equivalent training programs.

Applicant has reliable means of transportation to the gallery and a current Driver’s License.
