The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of experience in fine art crating and is familiar with the proper packing and crating of paintings, sculptures, and other unique objects.

Attention to detail is necessary to understand all methods and materials required to ensure safe packing/crating of artwork for onward shipping.

Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Overtime pay regularly available.

Responsibilities

Artwork Inspection: Carefully inspect art pieces to assess their condition and identify any pre-existing damage before packing.

Material Selection: Select appropriate packing materials based on the specific requirements of each artwork.

Packing Process: Utilize industry-standard packing techniques to pack artworks, ensuring protection against shock, vibration, and environmental factors.

Custom Crating: Construct custom crates to fit each artwork, using woodworking tools and techniques.

Inventory of materials: Maintain an accurate stock of all lumber and other related crating materials for ordering.

Forklift certified or willingness and ability to become certified

Ability to be on the road intermittently when schedule is demanding and your service as an assistant for certain jobs is necessary.

Requirements

Previous experience in fine art packing and handling, preferably in a gallery, museum, or art shipping company.

Strong knowledge of packing materials, techniques, and industry best practices.

Proficiency in woodworking tools and techniques for custom crate construction.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.
