At the heart of the museum’s programming, you actively contribute to the presentation of artworks. Under the supervision of the Production Manager, you oversee the preparation, packing, transport, installation/deinstallation and storage of artworks (paintings, sculptures, videos, installations and performances) belonging to the collection or presented in temporary exhibitions. You collaborate with the technical, curatorial, collection, registrar and building teams, and take part in exhibition rotations, artwork maintenance and the supervision of external contractors.
Packing and receipt of artworks
Inspection, unpacking and packing of artworks according to their specific requirements
Supporting registrars with condition reports and associated documentation
Securing the loading/unloading and routing of works to storage or gallery spaces
Installation in exhibition spaces
Art handling, tools and equipment
Fabrication of scenographic elements
Providing technical recommendations and briefing contractors
Exhibition and storage maintenance
Maintenance of internal and external art storage spaces, exhibition spaces and monitoring of works on display
Minor repairs as needed
Briefing external contractors where applicable
Daily management and planning
Participation in project meetings, contribution to schedules, preparation of exhibition rotations
Assistance with collection inventory
Equipment inventory and condition checks, ordering within budget and procedural guidelines
Keeping workspaces and the workshop in line with health and safety standards and internal procedures
Supervision of external art handlers and providers
Eligible to work in Europe
Bachelor’s degree in fine arts, museology or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a cultural institution or gallery
Excellent knowledge of international museum standards and practices
Proficiency in art handling, packing and transport techniques
Experience in mounting supports and structures is an advantage
Knowledge of museum standards and materials (including outdoor sculptures)
Proficiency with hand and power tools
Ability to perform physical tasks: lifting up to 25 kg, working at height
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
Forklift certification and electrical qualification desirable (training may be arranged post-hire)
Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office suite)
Valid Category B driving licence required
French and/or English required. German or Luxembourgish is an asset.
