Fine Art Shippers is seeking a driver/art handler based in the New York area. The primary responsibility of the person will be to operate our interstate art shuttle delivering art from New York to California and back. The duration of the trip is from 14 to 20 days per month. A CDL license is not required. We are looking for a person with, at least, a basic knowledge of art handling, able to perform art packing and installation tasks during the trip; we also provide training if necessary. Fuel, meals, and hotels during the trips are paid for by the company.
Timely deliveries according to the set schedule
Occasional packing and installation of artwork/collectibles at the customer’s location
Loading and unloading artworks
Performance of daily pre- and post-trip inspections as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
Maintenance of logbook and other documents to comply with DOT regulations
Courteous and professional interaction with the customers
Current driver license (CDL license is not required) with a clean driving record
Experience in art handling is a plus
Experience in building wooden crates is a plus
Punctuality, responsibility, ability to follow the set schedule
Ability to work well independently and as a team
Ability to drive a 16ft–26ft truck, including across the Mountain states in winter conditions
Ability to carry items of different shapes and sizes up to 40lbs to a distance of 100ft
Ability to push and pull 60lbs without mechanical aid and 150lbs on a dolly
Ability to navigate routes using maps or GPS
Good communication skills
